Sofia Margarita Vergara

Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actress and presenter. Vergara was the highest-paid American actress from 2013 to 2020. Vergara gained prominence hosting two Spanish-language programs on Univision in the latter half of the 1990s. Her first notable acting job in English was in the movie Chasing Papi (2003). Later, she appeared in Four Brothers (2006) and Tyler Perry's comedy Jail (2008). She was nominated for an ALMA Award for the former. She began her career as Gloria Delgado–Pritchett on ABC's comedy series Modern Family in 2009. For her role, she was awarded four Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards. Vergara has also voiced roles in animated films Happy Feet Two (2011). Escape from Planet Earth (2013). and The Emoji Movie (2018). Vergara has been America's Got Talent judge since 2020. Vergara was raised in Barranquilla by a Roman Catholic couple. Vergara's mother Margarita Vergara De Vergara was a domestic worker, and her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as an animal rancher in the meat industry. Her siblings, five in all, and a number of her cousins have referred to her as "Toti". Vergara was a dental student for three years at National University of Colombia, but she left just two years away from finishing her degree to pursue modeling opportunities and show business.
