Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was born in Pasadena, California. When she was three years older, her family members and her moved to the United States. Summer went to British as well as American schools while her family travelled abroad. She returned to her home town of Pasadena just shy of her birthday of 14. Summer was infatuated with the idea that she would become an actor since the age five years old, took her first acting class when she was 14. Nine months later she made an agreement with an agent as well as a manager, and then began her profession full-time. She is currently working towards her degree at college in her free time. Was one of the young stars that were featured in Vanity Fair's cover story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was listed as one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil started her acting lessons at the age of 14. In just one year she signed a contract with an agency and a manager. Bishil was first seen on the Nickelodeon television series Just for Kicks. She was later seen in a variety of other children's shows. In 2007, she was the lead in Alan Ball’s film Towelhead which was a re-imagining of the novel. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the best in a movie that, for all its good intentions, is completely fake and slightly embarrassing, as an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss, who writes for several Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one among the top natural actresses in film to appear in recent times." In an article in the 12th of September Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil who is who is a "...newcomer, gives an enthralling and confident performance in the role of Jasira. In 2009, she directed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her portrayal. She was cast as Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel was never made.
