Michelle Lynn Monaghan, born on March 23, 1976, is an American actress. She is most well-known for her roles in Kiss Bang Bang (2006), Gone Baby Gone (2007, Made of Honor (2008)), Trucker (2008) and Source Code (2011). She has also received recognition for her role in the role of Julia Meade in the action spy film series Mission: Impossible, appearing in Mission: Impossible III (2006), Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011), and Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018).On television, Monaghan starred as Maggie Hart in the debut season of the crime drama show True Detective (2014), for which she was awarded nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the drama series The Path (2016), she was the lead of Sarah Lane. Monaghan played the role of Eva Geller on the 2020 Netflix thriller series Messiah. The show was cancelled after only one season. Monaghan was born in the town of 750 people (then estimated to be 750 people) in Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of Sharon Hammel, and Robert Monaghan who worked in a factory. She has two older brothers, Bob and John. Monaghan is a Catholic with Irish and German origin and has graduated from East Buchanan High School, 1994. After graduation, Monaghan relocated to Chicago to pursue journalism studies and began modeling. She has also modelled in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore as well as the United States. In 1999, she had only one semester remaining to finish her degree in journalism. She then moved to New York to pursue an acting career. She worked as a model and appeared in a variety of catalogs and magazines prior to beginning her acting career. Monaghan was featured in two television roles as an actress in Young Americans' episodes in 2000. Monaghan also appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in "Consent" the episode that was broadcast on January 19, 2001, and she made her debut on the big screen the same year with Perfume which she played the role of Henrietta. She was a second supporting actress in Unfaithful in 2002, starring Richard Gere, Diane Lane, and others.
