ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born to Pamela Morgan (age 30) Morgan and Michael Morgan on July 2 1989. They raised her and her sisters, Jeni and Jeri, in the Los Angeles suburb of Diamond Bar. Morgan played multiple sports throughout her childhood but she was not a fan of soccer until the age of 14. She then became a member of the Cypress Elite club team, winning the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship and finishing in third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan continued to hone her soccer skills in Diamond Bar High School. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) picked Morgan to be an All-American Athlete. She also played in the Olympic Development Program's state and regional divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scorer in the first year of her career. She helped bring the team to the NCAA Tournament all four years and made it into the second round twice. Morgan was one of four finalist for the Honda Sports Award and the first Berkeley student to rank among the top Hermann Trophy finalists. Morgan graduated from Berkeley in the beginning of the 2010 semester and was ranked as the third best player among all-time points, goals, and assists. Morgan juggled soccer careers at the collegiate and national levels throughout her education. During her first year on the Berkeley team, Morgan experienced an ACL injury which barred her from participating in the U.S. under-20 women's soccer team until April. In Mexico Morgan scored her debut international soccer goal at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Morgan was also a part-time player at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals, earning her team a gold medal. One of these was a victory goal against Italy that secured the U.S. team a final place in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player of the team, and he helped it win against France. Morgan was the youngest player on the team and helped them win against Japan.
